ESD wrist straps are a low cost and critical component for grounding personnel when working on static sensitive components at a work station in an EPA.
ESD wrist straps safely ground personnel handling ESD sensitive components to prevent the build up of static electricity that can cause ESD damage.
The user wears the ESD wrist strap making contact with the skin. The wrist strap is connected to an earth grounding lead which in turn is connected to a grounded bonding point on a bench or piece of grounded equipment. Typically the lead will include a 1 megohm resistor to safely control the flow of generated static
Static generated by the operator is safely removed to earth via the wrist strap, lead and earth bonding point system.
